FOOD GLORIOUS FOOOODD

As much as I love a lot of other things about the Christmas period, the fact that you can stuff your face with so much and not feel bad about it is kinda amazing.
Not only that, but it all tastes so amazing!
Our family likes to stay pretty traditional, so we usually have a roast on Christmas Eve (with pudding for dessert), and then eat the leftovers all of the next day.

I'm going to share with you one of my absolute favourite Christmas recipes, as well as a few other ideas :)

The Recipe:
Gingerbread Cupcakes

What you'll need:

  • 125g butter, chopped
  • 2/3 cup golden syrup
  • 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 2/3 cups plain flour, sifted
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
  • Lemon zest, to serve
The method:
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Grease an 8-hole, 3/4 cup-capacity mini loaf pan.
  2. Place butter, golden syrup, sugar and milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 4 to 5 minutes or until butter has melted and sugar dissolved (do not boil). Remove from heat. Add bicarbonate of soda. Stir to combine. Set aside to cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Add egg. Whisk to combine. Add flour, ginger and mixed spice. Whisk until smooth. Spoon mixture into pan holes until half-full.
  4. Bake for 25 minutes or until a skewer inserted in centre of 1 cake comes out clean. Cool in pan for 5 minutes. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Serve and Enjoyy :D
You can also make these into little cupcakes and decorate them as christmassy things, such as reindeers and santa faces :)

Ideas:
Gingerbread house/men
Mince puddings
Pavlova with kiwi fruit, passionfruit and strawberries (If you're into that Aussie stuff)
Shortbread cookies
Chocolate truffles

Hope you enjoyed this post,

I'm not quite sure what they are all going to be yet, but lets just concentrate on this one first, shall we?

Christmas Movies

One of my favourite things about this time of the year is the many different christmas movies that are constantly playing on TV, it also gives you an excuse to stay inside and get in the christmas spirit by watching some merry movies.

If you were to ask me what my favourite Christmas movie was...
well lets just say it would take me many many hours to even narrow it down to my top three.

So heres just a list of some of them:
Elf - Errybody likes em some Elf
Home Alone - It's a tradition in my family to watch No.1 or 2 on Christmas Eve before we fall asleep.
National lampoons Christmas vacation - Another tradition, but usually on the 23rd
Polar Express - This doesn't really need an explanation. Just watch.
The Grinch - Just asdfghjkl.

Those are pretty much staple christmas movies, and if you haven't seen any of them, I definitely recommend that you stop what you're doing and go watch.

Well thats it for this post, hope you enjoyed :)

A new journey...

Hello :)

As I am a new blogger, I think it would be best for me to explain myself a little, and tell you a bit about me.
Although i'm not going to share much, as this IS a private 'diary' type blog.

1) First of all, I am an internet obsessed teenager.
However, I do love the outdoors and nature.
I especially love the moon, stars and trees...
Oh, and the animals and the grass and the rain and thunder and lightning and I also love the sea (I find it very calming)

2) I am completely prepared for a zombie apocalypse (Don't say it's impossible, anything's possible)

3) I have a strange obsession with bones...? (No, not the show, although it is quite entertaining. I'm talking about the thing thats inside of you, ya know, the things that are keeping you from being a pile of sludge?)

4) I LOVE CATS
    A LOT.

5) I may or may not be addicted to tea and coffee.... oops.

6) I hope to be an interior designer/decorator and writer when I'm older :)

7) I'm going to try and be as honest with you about life as much as possible. Promise.

8) I have very strong opinions and you will most likely loose in any argument against me.
Pretty much I'm as stubborn as Alfie Deyes. *wink wink*

9) I really really really love to read, and I especially love the smell of both old and new books.

10) I suffer from anxiety..
          *red spot*

Welllllllllll
I think that's it for this post :)
Seen as though i'm on Christmas ~ASDFGHJKL 16 DAYS OMG OMG OMG~ *clears throat* holidays, I'm going to try and post every couple of days.

Hope you are having a wonderful day,
H x
